Freight traffic restriction between Děčín – Bad Schandau

After intensive construction works on the damaged bridge at Dolní Žleb from Sunday 25.07.2021 the freight traffic is allowed to run via section Děčín – Děčín state border on both tracks with some operational restrictions on the Czech side of the border crossing Děčín – Bad Schandau. On the German side the works to restore double track operations to Schöna are estimated till 22.08.2021.

Most of freight trains will run via Bad Schandau – Děčín border crossing.

Several trains will be re-routed via:

  • Horka – Węgliniec (DE-PL) and Międzylesie – Lichkov (PL-CZ);
  • Schärding  Pyret- Passau (AU- DE);
  • Schirnding – Cheb (DE-CZ);
  • Furth i.W. – Ceská Kubice (DE-CZ);
  • Ebersbach – Rumburk (DE-CZ). 

Reroutings not available:

  • Frankfurt (Oder) – Rzepin (DE – PL) – due to large traffic volume
  • Bad Brambach – Vojtanov – from 28/29.07.2021 due to the construction works

Until further notice ad hoc traffic cannot be requested.

Costumers are invited to inquire for details on paths availability with their network counterpart.

Official announcement of an international disruption on RFC NS-B

Local situation

Due to heavy rainfalls during the weekend of 17/18.07.2021 a local flooding affected the rail section between Děčín – Bad Schandau. As a result a bridge on the Czech section was damaged. Additionally, on the German side one track has been flooded. Due to the cumulative effects on international traffic, SZCZ qualified the impact as an international disruption as defined by RNE (“ICM handbook”).

The Corridor Management initiated an international coordination conference showing following state of play:

Operational situation

At the moment, passenger trains can continue to run one track with speed restrictions.

Freight traffic is interrupted due to a damaged and weight-restricted bridge between Bad Schandau and Děčín. A re-opening for freight traffic is currently expected for 28.07.2021.

Operations will continue to be restricted to one track only for some time.

The following re-routing options (from North to South) have been identified:

  • Horka – Węgliniec (DE-PL) and Międzylesie – Lichkov (PL-CZ)
  • Bad Brambach – Vojtanov (DE-CZ)
  • Schirnding – Cheb (DE-CZ)
  • Furth i.W. – Ceská Kubice (DE-CZ)
  • Ebersbach – Rumburk (DE-CZ)
  • Schärding  Pyret- Passau (AU- DE)
     

 

 

Not available due to large traffic volume:

  • Frankfurt (Oder) – Rzepin (DE – PL)
