Accident on the Cologne-Ehrenfeld - Aachen line

Suspension of new orders for trains for occasional services.

Suspension of new orders for trains for occasional services during the year in the Cologne / Aachen / Krefeld / Venlo area until the damage caused by the accident on the Cologne-Ehrenfeld - Aachen Hbf line has been rectified.
Due to the derailment at Dorsfeld station between Cologne-Ehrenfeld and Aachen Hbf in the early morning of 22 November 2024, there is an urgent need to provide the railway undertakings (RUs) affected on this section of line with capacity on the relevant diversionary routes. The sections of line named below no longer have any capacity for ad hoc traffic until the damage caused by the accident has been repaired.
DB InfraGO AG is therefore suspending the ordering of new trains for ad-hoc traffic on the following routes:
Applies from 26/11/2024 including:

  • Mönchengladbach Hbf - Viersen (VzG 2520)
  • Aachen West - Rheydt Hbf - Mönchengladbach Hbf - Neuss Hbf (VzG 2550)
  • Cologne-Nippes - Dormagen - Neuss Hbf - Meerbusch-Osterath - Krefeld Hbf (VzG 2610)
  • Cologne-Ehrenfeld - Grevenbroich - Rheydt Hbf (VzG 2611)
  • Düsseldorf Hbf - Cologne-Mülheim (VzG 2650)

This regulation applies until the damage has been repaired.
An exception to the above regulation applies to empty traction unit journeys that are urgently required to run trains in the affected area.
DB InfraGO AG asks its customers to use long-distance alternative routes for journeys of occasional services during the year with an origin or destination outside the area specified above.
Please note:
Train path orders for ad hoc traffic that relate to the above-mentioned routes and that have not received a train path offer by the time of this publication will be rejected.
